Character Profiles/Test Shots
My group and I created this video in order to capture the essence and nature of the characters within our horror trailer. This has been shown through the costume, make up and all round aura of these characters which will be incorporated when we actually film our trailer.
Below are test shots of the location in which we will be filming in.

Explanation
When my group and I were researching horror films we noticed that dialogue was not used that often. I personally believe that this is due to the fact that directors/producers may not want to bore audiences with too much talking and rather have them fascinated, scared and excited by the action, jump scares and scary music. We tried to incorporate this in script in order for our trailer to be as effective and professional as it can be. Initially there is some dialogue between characters, however, this is to highlight the idea of peace and happiness or initial equilibrium within the first few scenes, in hope to build up tension rather than immediately scaring the audience. From audience research that I have previously conducted, my target audience preferred when suspense was built rather than them being 'thrown in the deep end' with all of the jump scares.

Production Company Logo

My group and I decided that as our production company name was 'House of Shadows' and that our logo would incorporate something to do with shadows and houses in order to make it cohesive. We then decided that we should make our own shadow puppet for the logo of the notorious vampire 'Nosferatu' which helped our production company name link in with the theme of horror a lot more, it also added our own stamp on it and made it innovative.
We researched some images as a group on the internet of haunted houses and the scary characters. Once we had seen a few designs, we realised that we wanted to make it 3D and have it moving in order to intensify the horror theme. We then spoke to our design technology teacher and requested for the 3D house to be cut on the laser cutter machine.
Below is the process
We then submitted the final designed product and allowed the laser cutter to do its job. We chose a black acrylic plastic to use as it would be the best for casting shadows.
We will then go to our recording studio and film our company logo wchich will take up 5-10 seconds of our trailer.
Group Narrative
Tamera 'Kanon's Slidely by Slidely Slideshow
We chose the name Alex for our main character as we wanted to incorporate the idea of a final girl through her unisex name. She also demonstrates characteristics of a final girl as she avoids the vices of the victims such as a hedonistic lifestyle, she is alto brave enough to take on the villain. Alex's bestfriend Riley is around also to act as a "right hand man".
Tiffany and Jane complete the friendship group. We decided to make Tiffany the silly/oblivious and easily influenced teen who is also flirty. While Jane on the other hand is laidback and rebellious, she subverts the idea of a 'Plain Jane'. Our male characters Josh and Tate are within the narrative to help to encapture the idea of the group of teenagers that Writer Clover mentioned in her literature on the final girl - the group of teens (who are flirty, ladies man, rebel, calm - vices of the victims) that are killed one by one before the final girl.
In our scene with Riley and Alex in the bedroom - a cctv angle will be used which (in a way) reflects and invasion of space/privacy. My group and I decided to link this with the idea of Voyeurism and The Male Gaze as it's almost as if she is being spied on in the place where she should be most comfortable.
We then begin with our initial disruption as the doorbell rings with an unexpected shock, eerie music also begins to reinforce the disruption. The idea of use beginning our narrative with calm and peaceful settings and following that on with a disruption links in with Toddorov's Narrative Theory.
Disruption continued and acknowledged my characters when Alex's picks up the phone to distorted and crackling sounds, when Tiffany goes to the bathroom and begins to bleed from her eye and TV flickers. An attempt to repair the disruption is displayed through the fast cut/paced scenes of: one of the boys getting stabbed, Jane getting grabbed on the floor and Riley getting grabbed from behind.
We have aslo managed to incorporate Levi Strauss' Binary opposition theory. We intend to use the opposites dark vs light in our trailer where the lights completely go off and Alex uses the match to form some light and witnesses the Villain grabbing Riley from behind by the mouth. Also, we will demonstrate opposites a scene where we have the villain and the victims in one shot to demonstrate the opposites.

Brainstroming Sub Genre and Narrative with my group
My group and I decided to film our decision making process for our horror trailer. We spoke about the sub genre that we could use for example the paranormal, slasher/torture and moral panics. We also began to build our narrative in this video as ideas were flowing.
Choice of production company name
In this video, we came up with our production company name 'House of Shadows Production'. We did this by mentioning all associated words of horror such as blood, paranormal, shadows and so on. To then make it into a production company name we added either 'pictures', 'production' or 'house of' before or after that word in order for it to sound professional and legitimate. After writing down all of these idea on the board, we began the process of elimination, we took out production names that weren't as effective as others and left the ones that had potential, leaving us with 'House of Shadws Production'.

Audience Research + Findings 2
Above I have gathered the opinions of a few people within my target audience to find out their over all opinion on horror films and what aspects are important in making the audience scared and feeling uneasy. Things such as sound (eerie/creepy) was found to be important in building tension within the audience to intensify their fear, also paranormal aspects are a bonus. Many of them mentioned jump scares which will be incorporated in my trailer in order to excite my audience and lure them into watching the film. Lastly, the involvement of children and the possession of children is something that if effective in the story of a horror film as it plays on their innocence.
Research into film magazine covers
In the prezi above I have deconstructed some horror film magazine covers and have noticed a few common occurrences, such as the masthead always linking with the theme through either red/bold text or some effects such as dripping blood or haziness. Also, I have noticed how much of a difference having an effective subheading is through the 'Psycho' and 'Evil Dead' magazine cover, it adds some an attractive flare to it and explicitly points out the main feature of the magazine whereas, 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' is slightly bland as the subheading text is small and at the bottom of the page. However, I pointed out that this may have been due to the status of the magazine, 'Creepy Images' may be a well established magazine where they don't need to do much to gain an audience as they may already have loyal subscribers.
Research into horror posters
I put together this voiceover video on 'WeVideo' of my research into horror posters. When speaking to many people from my target audience I collated the information that I received and found a general consensus of what they preferred, what stood out to them and what they would change. I found this research effective for the production of my own horror poster as I know to include a colour scheme such ad black white and red/grey/green. I also know that I need to involve something that stands out and something that will lure my audience in for example an angle of gaze or a mysterious/creepy creature.

Group Evaluation
I believe that my group and I successfully recreated the original clip of the horror movie 'Annabelle' as we incorporated all the key aspects of the clip such as the location, costume, props, camera angles/movements and editing techniques. We did however, struggle with the light as in the original clip, dim lighting was used which contrasts with our re-enactment as it was filmed in broad daylight - due to the limited time we had to film.
We all collectively took part in the production of this re-enactment, I was playing the possessed lady so that meant I didn't contribute with the camera work, however, contributions were made within the editing process for example choosing the correct clips to use (as we filmed certain scenes more the once) and placing the soundtrack over the visuals in time and so on.
Being the villain I did find it quiet difficult affectively scaring the audience as my voice isn't as loud and as boisterous and the original scream - so this was something we had to film multiple times. But we later decided collectively that the original scream sounds better and makes the audience jump.
Horror Clip Analysis - Annabelle
In this video, I have analysed a clip from the film 'Annabelle' in terms of mise-en-scene, camera angles, movements and sound.
Below is the clip that I have analysed from 0:00 - 2:05
